Pune: Stepfather, mother torture 10-year-old girl

Pune, Oct 24: A ten-year-old girl was subjected to torture by her mother and stepfather in Ganesh Nagar slum area of Pune from several years, a report on Thursday said.

As per the report, the little girl was not only thrashed, but was also burnt and red chilly powder was rubbed on her wounds by her monstrous parents.

The shocking incident came to light when one of the neighbours came to know about the girl's plight and informed an NGO, Childline about it on Sunday.

The NGO's director sent a volunteer at girl's shanty to verify the complaint and found out that parents were not cooperating. Then their suspicion grew on parents that they were torturing their daughter.

The NGO volunteer said that she found the girl was extremely scared and was in a miserable condition.

Girl was thrashed, burnt and chilly powder was rubbed on her wounds.

After some time, the tortured girl showed her injury marks on her hands, legs and neck.

The complaint letter, written by the girl with the NGO's help, in which details of abuse are mentioned, has been handed over to the Pimpri police station.

Meanwhile, police officials said that they will first verify the allegations levelled by the NGO against girls' parents and only then, they will initiate any action against them.
