TASLIM UDDIN Biography

Born in a farmer�s family, Taslimuddin was first elected to the assembly elections in 1969 from Jokihat constituency. He was conspicuosly aabsent from politics for almost two decades. In 1989 he won his first parliamentary election from purnea with a JD ticket. He sucessfully contested the following Lok Sabha elections under the RJD banner from Kashiganj in Bihar. In 2010 he fell frm the good graces of Lalu Prasad Yadav and decided to leave RJD. He joined JDU for a brief period after that he was back with the RJD. He sucessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabh elecions from his hometown Araria. He died in 2014 after succumbing to some breathing problems in Chennai whist he was attending a parliamentary meeting.

• 2014: He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from Araria constiuency in Bihar where he defeated Pradeep Kumar Singh of BJP.
• 2004: He was elected for a fouth term from kashiganj where he defeated Syed Shahnawaz Hussain of BJP.
• 1998: He was elected for a third term from Kashiganj with an RJD ticket.
• 1996: He was elected for a second term n Lok Sabha from Kashiganj in Bihar where he defaeted Vishwanath Kejriwal of BJP by a margin of 164583 votes.He was also a Union minister of state for home affairs in the HD Deve Gowda government.
• 1989: He was elected to Lok Sabha in 1989 as a Janata Dal candidate from Purnea.
• 1969: He was elected from the Jokihat constituency from Bihar in the assembly elections with an INC ticket, where he defeated Satya Narain Yadav of BJS by a margin of 8582 votes.
