Muzaffarnagar: Two men rape a 20-year-old living in relief camp

, Nov 4: A 20-year-old girl living in a relief camp, was allegedly raped by two men here on Sunday.

The victim was staying in a relief camp with her family in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh where communal clashes had left nearly 50 people dead and over 45,000 homeless.

Tension prevailed in the area after the incident.

The girl was attacked by the two accused when she stepped out of her shelter at Jogya Kheri village in Fugana area of the district. She was accosted by them and they threatened to kill her if she mentioned about the incident to anyone.

Villagers beat up the two accused before handing them to the police

However, the two accused were later thrashed by the villagers once the incident was out in the open and were later handed over to the police.

A medical examination confirmed that the girl was raped. The girl's family has lodged a complaint with the police.

Muzaffarnagar is currently being monitored very closely by the security forces after communal clashes broke out in September and even last week where four people were killed in two separate violence incidents.
