Airhostess promised job, gets raped
The girl had met the man one and half years ago over Facebook. She was the working for Kingfisher airlines when the man promised her to use his connections in other airlines and help her shift.
"They became good friends and the accused assured the victim that he had contacts at a few reputed airlines and would recommend her for a job soon. He then raped her three to four times at different places in Delhi, where he mostly met her," said a senior police official.
In her complaint, Gurgaon Police lodged an FIR with rape charges, but shifted the case to Delhi as the crime was committed there, Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said. Mittal said the girl, in her complaint, alleged that the businessman had sexually exploited her in Delhi, promising to marry her. The girl further alleged that the businessman had also clicked her obscene photographs and threatened to blackmail her.
Her last encounter with the man was on April 20, 2013 at the Rockland Hotel in Nehru Place, following which he started to ignore her phone calls and deleted his Facebook profile. The victim then approached the Gurgaon police for help.
"The victim lives in Sector 14, Gurgaon, and had approached the Civil Lines police station. We have registered an FIR and recorded her statement. Medical examination of the victim confirms rape. We have now transferred the case to our counterpart - Delhi Police - for further investigation since the accused mostly raped the victim in Delhi," said Surinder Pal, DCP (West), Gurgaon.
Handa, who is married and lives in Amritsar, has been absconding since the crime came to light.
