Bihar: Professor quits after sexual harassment charge
Patna, Sept 17: A day after an FIR was lodged against Patna Women's college male teacher for sexual harassment, he submitted his resignation letter to college authorities on Thursday.
Apparently, accused teacher had to do it after All India Student Federation(AISF) student protested against his misdemeanour.
Earlier, AISF forced Patna Women's college administration to lock up gate after its student members raised voice in support of alleged sexual harassed girl.
Criticising college administration, AISF accused that college administration was supporting accused male teacher.
About college and the incident
Patna womens college(PWC) is one of the most reputed college of Bihar and is recognised by Patna University. Recently a a girl, studying in Department of Mass Communication had registered a complaint that she was sexually harassed by the college teacher Sanjay Datta.
Shocking, instead of helping the accused and taking proper action against teacher, the college authority defended the Dutta saying, "he did n't rape you, he just touched you."
The college principal, Marie Jassie even blamed girl and her dressing sense for the shameful incident.
Meanwhile, students who are protesting against the college administration have been given stern warning by the principal to keep mum over the issue.
Narrating the incident, a student Priyanaka Dixit, BMC department second year said to new agency, "The accused teacher always told her to meet outside the college and we along with many girls have been given Black transfer Certificate by the college administrations".
She further added, "My parents don't know about this and our cell-phone has been seized by college."
Reportedly, 20 AISF protester along with a girl were arrested by the police for violating code of conduct ahead of the Bihar assembly elections. They were later released on bail.
