Defence Minister congratulates TMR for their extraordinary tales of bravery

The Union Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh felicitated the crew of 'Tiranga Mountain Rescue' for their praiseworthy work during a meeting which was held in New Delhi on April 26, 2022. He complimented the force for saving people from a natural calamity. Appreciating the team effort of TMR, Rajnath Singh said "The location at which the TMR team was stationed has witnessed zero casualties to avalanches. Earlier, there used to be a minimum of 20-25 sad casualties to avalanches. The TMR team has done a tremendous job."

Helping thousands of soldiers by providing them training, the TMR team, as of now, has visited over 140 posts across the country. Rajnath Singh praised the team of TMR because of their exceptional support to the Indian Army that they are providing to the soldiers on a long-term basis. The team of Tiranga Mountain Rescue, in total, has smartly positioned a total of six teams in partnership with the Indian Army in several avalanche-prone border areas, particularly in the Northern region. The teams are stationed strategically in different locations; three in Kashmir, two in Ladakh and one in North-Eastern state of Sikkim.

Since the last 5 years, TMR has mentored about 20,000 defense forces personnel under the able leadership of Col. Satish Sharma (retd.), the team of trained mountaineers have overseen numerous mitigation and rescue missions. The Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR) was incepted by Hemant Sachdev and includes mountaineers having years of experience. The team consists of both ex-servicemen and civilians. The teams of TMR, during 2018 November arrived in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar and had a brief session of interaction with the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt, who reiterated the resolve to save Soldiers' lives by all available means.

They have been widely appreciated for their services, particularly during the time period between 2016 to 2018, Apart from providing rescue services, they have also been training people for cover, route analysis, rescue, and other missions in the highest, dangerous, and avalanche-prone areas of the mountains.
