'What Natwar did wasn't right, my father would never do that'

New Delhi, Aug 4: When one after another book bomb left the Congress and its central force, the Gandhi family, in great embarrassment, daughter of President Pranab Mukherjee stood by the party and the family.

Sharmistha Mukherjee, an accomplished Kathak dancer, told a news channel that her father who has been a Congress worker for over four decades before becoming the president in 2012, would never reveal confidential details transpired during his long stint in the Congress.

Sharmistha said his father had maintained a diary for over four decades and penned many sensitive information in that, adding that he scratches many of those information saying that those should not be known. The diary is with her now, revealed the president's daughter.

Sharmistha took a dig at former foreign minister Natwar Singh for triggering a controversy by revealing details of past occurrences in the party and within the Gandhi family in his autobiography One Life Is Not Enough. She said one shoudn't breach the trust, also adding that her father had never brought political issues into his family life.

The dancer, who recently joined the Congress and might also contest the assembly election in Delhi later this year, said every person should honour the confidence shown in him and not reveal secret details in the public.

Natwar Singh recently triggered a massive controversy in the political and media circle by targetting top Congress leader like Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. He also revealed details of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's Sri Lanka policy and how he messed up the issue.
