New Delhi, April 12: The Delhi Metro commenced trials of its trains' runs on Sunday on the Badarpur-Faridabad corridor, a statement said.

The construction work for this section, which is over 13-km long, is almost complete and is expected to be opened for commuter operations after successful trials, said the statement.

During the trial, the entire signalling system will undergo rigorous testing, it said.

Delhi Metro extension from Badarpur to Faridabad is an elevated corridor with nine stations. The nine stations are Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk, and Escorts Mujesar.

It said two more stations -- NCB colony and Ballabhgarh -- will be added on this line by 2017.

The corridor is an extension of the existing Mandi House-Badarpur line and has seen an average ridership of 1.92 lakh a day in March 2015.
