VK Singh caught in another controversy
New Delhi, Oct 1: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a contempt notice to former Army Chief VK Singh for questioning the court's decision in his age row.

A bench of justices RM Lodha and HM Gokhale, on Monday took cognisance to a news report where Singh had said why the court had not decided his age based on his matriculation certificate. Singh said: "If the court can define the age of a rape victim on the basis of his matriculation certificate, then why has the Supreme Court failed to decide my age despite checking and cross-checking my certificates?"

He went on to question the court saying that if the superior court can believe the matriculation certificate and determine the age of a rapist or a muderer, what happens to my certificate, which has been checked, rechecked and carbon-dated for over a period of time?

SC gives time till October 23 for VK Singh to reply

Singh, on Februrary 10 last year had lost a legal battle on the age row in the Supreme Court, which said that the government decision on his date of birth will apply for his services, forcing him to withdraw his petition.

The court reacting to the remarks said that it scandalises this court and also lowers the authority. He has been asked to reply to the order by October 23.
