Tiwari a witness to the spat:
Investigators say that Tiwari had boarded at flight in Mumbai last year a couple of months before Sunanda's death. Tiwari who was seated on the flight in which Sunanda and Tharoor were present was witness to an ugly fight between the couple. Sunanda and Shashi Tharoor had boarded the flight at Kerala and were on their way to New Delhi.
Tiwari had boarded the flight in Mumbai after he had attended a function. According to several eye witness accounts, he had witnessed the fight. The SIT says that the relations between Tharoor and Sunanda are crucial to the case and hence it was important to record Tiwari's statement.
Several other witnesses stated that the couple fought for several hours. Tiwari who witnessed the spat however did not intervene. He is also said to have witnessed the couple fighting even after the aircraft landed in Delhi.
The investigators sought to know more details of that spat. They also sought to know if the fight had turned physical as some had claimed that Sunanda had even slapped Tharoor.
