Family of senior citizen who died in queue moves SC- Seeks Rs 50 lakh compensation
Siya Ram aged 70 a daily wager died on November 17 due to brain haemorrhage. His son Kanaihya moved the Supreme Court his father was in queue for three days to get his currency exchanged.
The family of a senior citizen who allegedly died while waiting in queue to exchange old currency has moved the Supreme Court seeking compensation of Rs 50 lakh from the union government. Siya Ram aged 70 a daily wager died on November 17 due to brain haemorrhage. His son Kanaihya moved the Supreme Court his father was in queue for three days to get his currency exchanged.
He further stated in the petition that there were several ATMs which were not dispensing cash regularly. He prayed that the centre be directed to give him compensation of Rs 50 lakh.
The opposition has been creating a ruckus in Parliament over this issue. The opposition has said that several people have died while standing in queue and the government is responsible for the same.
