New Delhi, July 19: In an incident that reminds of 2005-06 sensational Nithari killings, a 24-year-old man has confessed to have sexually assaulted and killed at least 15 children, since 2009.

According to reports, on Tuesday July 14, the accused, identified as Ravinder Kumar allegedly raped and killed a six-year-old girl in Begampur area of northwest Delhi.

On Friday, July 17, he was arrested. During questioning, he broke down and revealed that he used to lure children (boys and girls), with toffees or money.

Then, he took the abducted children to isolated places, where he sexually assaulted, raped them and strangulated them.

After committing the dastardly act, he used to dump the bodies in drains or fields or bury them.

According to police officials, two of the victims were from Begampur, while others belonged to other areas of Delhi like Kanjhawala, Samaipur Badli, Mundka and Vijay Vihar.

Police zeroed upon him when a driving license of one of Ravinder's friend was retrieved from the crime spot. Subsequently, police gathered the pieces and nabbed him.

Last year, Ravinder, who has a criminal record, was arrested for assaulting a minor boy, but he was later granted bail.

Police has expanded its search in connection with the case in Noida, Aligarh (where he stayed with his relatives) and Badaun, his native place, in Uttar Pradesh.

An FIR has been filed against him under IPC sections of rape, sexual assault, sodomy, murder and destruction of evidence and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
