Help in a Cup: This Chai wala supports demonetisation move

The tea vendor has now started accepting online payments to help customers who are short of cash.

New Delhi, Nov 13: With Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes being declared invalid, a roadside vendor who earns his daily living by running a small tea shop in RK Puram area is showing support for Demonetisation. The tea vendor has now started accepting online payments to help customers who are short of cash.

According to Monu, a tea stall owner,''Accepting online payments even for as less as Rs 7, is my way of helping people and showing support for #DeMonetisation''.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Rs 500 and 1,000 notes are no longer legal tender, cash-starved people are queuing up outside banks and ATMs.

Shashank, a customer says ,''great gesture by the tea stall vendor. Paying for tea online is a big help, considering the current cash shortage," he also says.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said it may still take up to three weeks for ATMs to start functioning normally.
