Expose reveals doctors taking bribes, demanding 'gifts'
This comes to light after NDTV representatives conducted an expose (read more) and posed as medical representatives of a pharmaceutical company and met doctors and asked what would they like in return of promoting their company's drugs.
While one doctor said that he would want a digital camera worth Rs 1.5 lakh, another doctor said that he would like an ipad mini with retina display.
After the expose was discussed in Parliament, it is upto the Medical Council of India (MCI) , the watchdog for doctors and medical practises to take the next step.MCI has said that they would go through the evidence and then take a decision.
Doctors say that such malpractises is rampant in the medical field where bribes and 'gifts' are exchanged amongst doctors and medical representatives.
