New Delhi, April 6: Delhi Police on Tuesday started an inquiry into the issue of an ambulance carrying a bleeding child not being allowed to move due to a VIP movement near Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in central Delhi.

A video posted by a man on social media went viral on Monday purportedly showing an ambulance stuck near the barricade, while people were asking the police officials to let the ambulance go. However, police maintained that the ambulance was not stopped for a long time.

Are VIPs more important than the life of a child who is bleeding?

"Facilitation of ambulance movement is the top priority. We have started an inquiry and what we have come to know is that a few minutes before a VIP movement, the traffic was stopped. The ambulance was towards the end and the cops only facilitated the movement of ambulance towards the front," said a senior police officer.

Police also said that the moment carcade left from Rajghat, the ambulance was the first vehicle to leave even though other vehicles were not allowed to move till the VIP route was over, he said.

"Police gave priority to ambulance movement. We are looking if there was inadequacy but so far it has come to our notice that the ambulance was not stopped for more than three minutes," he stressed.

Police said they have not received any complaint till now and the video clipping on Facebook is the only thing they have.
