US-based hands backing Aam Aadmi Party? Delhi HC wants Centre's action
A bench headed by Justice Pradeep Nandrajog asked the Centre to file its response on the alleged role of a US-based team in the Delhi polls. The order came after advocate ML Sharma moved the court. His petition against the alleged foreign funding to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also pending before the high court, said a PTI report.
The application alleged that Kejriwal and his associates were fully backed by the US-based Ford Foundation for a long tine and they are active in India in the name of non-residential Indians. In the application, it was also said that in November and December last year when five Indian states went to the polls, over 6 lakh telephone calls and 300 SMSes were made from Los Angeles to Delhi voters urging them to vote for the AAP in the December 4 polls in Delhi.

It was also said that the calls and SMSes were made without any permission from either the Home Ministry or appropriate government authorities, said the PTI report.
The plea also wants to know whether foreign interference in the election process of the nation is allowed under the Constitution of India.
