AAP leader Ashish Khetan booked for hurting religious sentiments
Khetan has been accused of hurting religious sentiments in Punjab after he compared AAP's youth manifesto with the Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib and also the Bhagwad Gita while its launch in Amritsar.
A case has been registered under Section 295-A (hurting religious sentiments) at the Civil Lines police station.
The party has also been accused of using the image of the Golden Temple in its manifesto along with the party symbol- the broom which has provoked several Sikh groups.
However, Khetan apologised later for his comment and said: "Apologies for inadvertently expressing some words, I never intended to hurt anyone's sentiments."
AAP is contesting the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled in 2017 and is seen as a strong contender in the state. The party aims to fight the drug menace, corruption and unemployment in the state and is looking to repeat its Delhi victory in Punjab in the Assembly polls
