New Delhi, Oct 14: The BJP is set to join the Pema Khandu led PPA government in Arunachal Pradesh. Tamiyo Taga of the BJP will be inducted as a minister in the Arunachal Pradesh Government.

It may be recalled that all but one MLA of the Congress including Pema Khandu had joined the People's Party of Arunachal Pradesh in September.

BJP joins Khandu led PPA government

Khandu had become the Chief Minister in a Congress led government after the Supreme Court had restored the government in Arunachal Pradesh. However, in September he along with 43 Congress MLAs joined the PPA.

The only Congress MLA who stayed away was Nabam Tuki who was replaced as the CM when the Congress tried to quell a rebellion from within.

Khandu had said that the decision to join a regional part was in the interest of the people of the state. He further said that the state is resource stressed and it is difficult to get things done at the centre if there are political differences.

In the 60 member assembly, the Congress had 47 MLAs. The BJP has 11 and 2 are independent candidates. Two Congress MLAs had put in their papers and their status is still unclear.
