Mysuru Palace decked up for Yaduveer-Trishika Royal Wedding on June 27; rituals begin

Mysuru, June 24: Preparations are going on in full swing at the Mysuru Palace for the royal wedding of 27th scion of the 600-year-old Wadiyar dynasty, 24-year-old Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his fiancee Trishika Kumari.

The pre-wedding rituals for the marriage have already begun from today evening and will culminate on Wednesday, June 29. The auspicious time for the marriage is said to beween 9.05 am to 9.40 am, at the Kalyana Mantapa of Mysuru Palace on Monday, June 27.

Yaduveer & Trishika

On Saturday, June 25, the rituals will begin with oil bath (yenne snana) of Sri Yaduveer at 4 am, Deccan Chronicle reported. Then, as per the royal tradition, he will perform paada pooja of Sri Parakaal math seer, Sri Abhinava Vaageesha Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swamij.

On Sunday, June 26, the ritual of Kaashi yaathre will be held along with a private function.

On the D-day, June 27, both Yaduveer and Trishika will sit on a swing to play with a ball made out of flowers between 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm. [Maharaja of Mysore Yaduveer to get married on June 27]

On Tuesday, June 28, the grand reception will take place at Durbar Hall of Mysuru Palace at 7.30 pm.

On July 2, another high-profile reception of the newly-wedded couple will be held at Bengaluru Palace, that will be attended by 1,500 to 2,000 guests.

Pramoda Devi said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have been invited to grace the royal wedding, besides other Union and state ministers.

Over 2,000 guests not only from across the country but also from foreign countries including consulates from German, France, America and Switzerland have been invited, a report said.

"Though we are yet to finalize the menu, one thing is for sure that it will be South Indian food. There will be varieties of dishes each day. As people are weight conscious we have limited sweets. Yaduveer is fond of Jahangir, so it will also be part of the menu", Pramoda Devi was quoted as saying.


Mysuru Palace is witnessing the royal marriage after 40 years, since 1976. The Mysuru Palace will be closed for public from June 24 to June 29.

Trishika is the second daughter of Maharaj Kumar of Dungarpur, Harshvardhan Singh and Rajkumari Maheshree Kumari.
