BJP shocker: Newly elected MLA Govind Rathod dies of heart attack
Govind M Rathod, a newly elected BJP legislator from Mudkhed Assembly segment in Maharashtra's Nanded district, died following a massive heart attack early on Monday, Oct 27, a party official said.
"It is very sad. He suffered a heart attack while travelling in a train and later expired," state BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said.
The strength of BJP in the 288-member 13th Maharashtra Assembly is now 121 with Rathod's death.
His death came on a day when the BJP is expected to announce the date of the swearing-in ceremony of the new government.
Rathod, 64, was on his way to Mumbai by Devgiri Express when he was taken ill and he passed away following a cardiac arrest, party sources said.
