Mumbai Shocker: 16-year-old girl gets pregnant after father rapes her

Mumbai, Aug 11: In a shocking incident here, a 40 year old tailor was arrested on Sunday for raping his 16 year old daughter for a year.

He had threatened his daughter that he would kill her if she reveal anyone about the incident.

The father got her pregnant and took her to the doctor for check up in May. The accused told the doctor that the girl is an adult and a widow.

The incident came to light when the house owner noticed that the girl was pregnant and informed a social worker.

According to police, the girl is living in Tilak Nagar with her father and two brothers and is seven months pregnant. The victim's mother got separated from the accused in January.

The accused has eight children in two wives. He divorced his first wife and married the victim's mother. After getting separated from her, he took the custody of three children in her.

"The girl has informed her mother about bleeding from private parts, before she left home. But the mother didn't know that the girl was raped," said police.

It was the victim's house owner who informed the authorities when she noticed the girl was pregnant.

The victim was threatened by her father and due to that reason she was traumatised and was not ready to reveal anything to the social workers.

It was only through repetitive counseling that the victim revealed about the shocking incident.

In the month of May the accused had taken the girl to Rajawadi hospital, saying that the girl is an adult and a widow. When the pregnancy was confirmed the girl was confined to her home by the accused.

The social worker informed the police about the incident on Sunday and the accused was arrested. He was taken into custody under Sections 376(2) and IPC 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) along with Sections 4,6,8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

The 40 year old was presented in the court on Monday and is under police custody.
