Mumbai: Railway authorities auction goat to recover fine

Mumbai, Aug 3: Railway authorities in Mumbai were caught in an unusual situation when they caught ticketless traveller. In a bizarre incident, the Railway staff had to auction off the traveller to recover the cost of the fine. The traveller was a goat abandoned by her human companion.

According to Zee news report, the authorities received reports that a passenger on a train was travelling with a goat, which is not permitted under the Railway's rules. The man was confronted by a ticket collector at the Masjid Station of the local railway.

The man, who was travelling without ticket, abandoned the goat at the railway station. Railway authorities realised that the man was not going to come back to collect the goat.

Hence, they decided to auction the goat. They dold goat for Rs 2500 over 10 percent of the fine which is Rs 256.
