Mumbai, Jan 10: A day after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray hit out at the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi saying that the Gujarat CM 'should have resigned as the CM, the day he was announced as the prime ministerial candidate', the Maharashtra BJP chief has reacted sharply over his remarks.

"If Raj Thackeray continues to attack Narendra Modi we will reconsider our support to MNS in Nashik Municipal Corporation. We haven't withdrawn our support as of now", Maharashtra BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said in Nagpur.

"There is no question of Narendra Modi resigning as CM. Modi is wise enough to decide what to do and has always spoken about India and not just Gujarat", he added.

"Modi doesn't speak about Gujarat...he speaks about development, growth, inclusivity, social sector, demographic advantage, jobs...he speaks about India. If Thackeray had listened to Modi's speeches, he would never give such a reaction", he further said, adding that "Thackeray's advice is not required".

Yesterday, Raj Thackeray had said during a Press Conference in Nashik, "If you want to be the PM, then leave the CM post. Don't just talk of Gujarat but the whole nation."

He even went on to say that 'you come to Maharastra and speak about Sardar Patel's statue. Why don't you talk about Shivaji Maharaj?'

Earlier, Thackeray was a supporter of Modi and even bid for him as the PM but their equations changed when Modi compared Maharastra's and Gujarat's development.
