Devotees take a holy dip to observe Somawati Amavasya

Nashik, Aug 25: Thousands of devout Hindus took a holy dip in the Godavari river on Monday on the occasion of Somawati Amavasya, which falls on the fifth and last Monday of the month of 'Shravan' as per the Maharashtrian calender.

Devotees visited the famous Kapaleshwar temple of Lord Shiva and other Shiva temples, to offer poojas and abhishekas as well as observe a day-long fast.

A similar rush was witnessed at the pilgrim town of Trimbakeshwar, which houses one of the Jyotirlingas, while long queues were witnessd in front of the temple.

Devotees also thronged Shiva temples in other parts of the district in large numbers.
