Mumbai, July 31: Dramatic scenes prevailed at Maximum City's Kurla railway station around 1.30 pm on Monday, July 30, after a man in his fifties was found trying a devastating mission.

Narendra Damaji Kotekar, aged 54, quietly got off the platform and lied down on the railway tracks even as thousands watched with horror. However, there were people who did not let the man's plan succeed and reached him at once to pull him away from the tracks before it was too late.

Those who rescued Kotekar included daily commuters and a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The entire episode was caught on a CCTV installed nearby.

The man later told the security official who saved his life that he was tired with family problems and wanted an exit route, agencies reported.

A few days ago, a commuter was saved by an alert policeman at Mumbai's Panvel railway station. The man failed to board a speeding train and was dragged on the edge of the platform. The railway police personnel jumped and pulled the man back to gift him his life.

In February, a seven-year-old boy was saved by a RPF official at Naigaon railway station in Mumbai when he was about to fall through the gap between the train and the platform.
