Mumbai, June 3: As the Union Rural development minister Gopinath Munde passed away on Tuesday morning following a car accident in AIIMS hospital in New Delhi, his untimely and sudden death has brought forward an uncanny coincidence, that has haunted Munde- Mahajan clan since 2006.

Here is a detailed report of how 3rd date after every 4 years since 2006 proved to be a cursed and mourning date for both Mahajan-Munde families:

3rd June, 2014: Gopinath Munde died

Monday's car accident was not a fatal one. If one takes note of 64- year-old Munde's Maruti SX4, it has got minor dents, which doesn't normally lead to deaths.

As per his postmortem report, Munde's liver was ruptured in the road accident and he suffered a cardiac arrest due to shock, as per preliminary postmortem report by a team of doctors at AIIMS.

"His liver was ruptured which caused internal bleeding. Due to the sudden shock/impact, he then suffered cardiac arrest. None of the external wounds were fatal enough to cause death," doctors said.

Brother-in-law of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Munde is survived by his wife Pradnya and three daughters- Pankaja, Pritam and Yashashri. His eldest daughter, Pankaja Munde-Palve is an MLA from Parli in Maharashtra's Beed district.

During his college days, Munde met a sauve, soft-spoken young man, Pramod Mahajan (his senior in College) who coaxed him to join the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Later, Munde's friendship with Mahajan blossomed into a family relationship when he married his sister, Pradnya Mahajan.

For the BJP, Munde's death will be deeply felt as he was one of the few grassroots leaders who toured the remotest parts of the state during his political career spanning over four decades.

3rd May, 2006: Pramod Mahajan died

Barely eight years ago, on April 22, 2006, Munde's brother-in-law and senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan was shot and grievously injured by his brother Pravin Mahajan, at his Worli home.

56-year-old Pramod Mahajan who was at the peak of his political career, died after struggling for his life for 13 days, on May 3, 2006, plunging the BJP in a state of shock at the passing of its charismatic and youthful leader, who also served as a union minister handling different portfolios in the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinets.

Pramod Mahajan was considered an 'architect' of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance.

3rd March 2010: Pravin Mahajan died

50-year-old Pravin Mahajan, serving life imprisonment for killing his brother and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, died at Jupiter hospital following illness due to brain haemorrhage.

On December 18, 2007, Pravin was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his brother.

In 2009, he also penned down a 75 pages book entitled 'My Album'.

3rd June 2006: Vivek Moitra died

A close aide and general secretary of Pramod Mahajan, 39-year-old Vivek Moitra also met his end on 3rd date of June 2006.
