Shamed of stealing, Bengaluru girl kills self

Moodbidri: Out of shame for being caught stealing mobile phones, an 18-year-old committed suicide here on Sunday.

The shocking incident took place at Alvas College hostel on Sunday, Sept 6.

The deceased is identified as Rakshitha, a first-year B.Com student at Alvas College. She was found hanging in the hostel bathroom.

According to police, Rakshitha was caught stealing her hostel mates' mobile phones on Friday, Sept 4. She went into her room on Saturday, Sep 5 around 10:30 pm. Rakshitha was not seen in her room on Sunday morning. Then, the other inmates noticed that one of the bathrooms was locked. When they broke open the door, they found Rakshitha hanging from a cloth hanger.

Rakshitha has also jotted a death note on the bathroom wall. She has asked for forgiveness from her parents for her acts.

Rakshitha's body was sent to Mangaluru for postmortem. The Moodbidri police registered a case of unnatural death.
