Udupi police seized Rs 71 lakh in new Rs 2,000 currency notes that was being transported by three persons in a car in Karkala, Karnataka. The cash has been handed over to the Income Tax department while the three persons are being questioned.
The vehicle was intercepted by Karkala police in the wee hours of Friday. The trio, identified as Imran, Asif and Deepak, all natives of Mangaluru have been detained for questioning and the money has been seized. The trio was unable to explain the source of the money. Details of where the money came from and where it was being transported to is yet to be ascertained.
