UP brothers, who cracked IIT-JEE, give another gift to their village

Lucknow, June 22: Two young and talented boys in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, who made it to the prestigious IIT-JEE against all odds, have not only proved that they they overcame their struggles with flying colours, but have also improved the fortunes of the little-known village.

UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has adopted Rehua Lalganj, the native village of the two brothers.

On Sunday, June 21, the Samajwadi Party-led government organised a felicitation ceremony for Brijesh Saroj (18) and Raju Saroj (17), who proved that nothing comes in your way if you are determined to reach your goal. Raju secured 167th rank in the exam in his first attempt whereas Brijesh secured 410th in his second attempt.

Akhilesh Yadav said the entire expanses of both brothers' education will be borne by the state government.

Besides, Akhilesh also honoured both brothers by giving each of them a laptop and Rs 1 lakh cheque for their counselling.

Akhilesh also said their families would be provided house under the Lohiya Grameen Awaas Yojana.

At the felicitation ceremony organised at the CM's residence in Lucknow, Akhilesh said their villages would be developed under the Lohia Gram Scheme.

The two brothers had also received congratulatory call from Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday. Brijesh had received a call from Bollywood actor Aamir Khan who asked him not to take tension and continue his education without any worries.

Their father works as a labourer and mother is a housewife. Help is coming from private companies and NGOs as well who have expressed their desire to extend financial support to the duo.

Another student, Abhishek Kumar Kamalvanshi of Mainpuri, who also cracked the IIT-JEE exam, was given a laptop and Rs 1 lakh cheque.

The CM said the state government was committed to provide all help to meritorious students of the state and was increasing facilities so that those who desire get good education get it at affordable price.

Akhilesh's wife and Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav and Congress MP Pramod Tewari were present at the felicitation ceremony.
