Mulayam's birthday celebrations 'marred' as stampede kills 1 woman in Badaun
Badaun, Nov 23: As the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav celebrated his 75th birthday by cutting a 75-foot -long cake at midnight at a grand event in Rampur, a stampede in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, led to the death of one woman.
The woman was identified as 52-year-old Sharbati Devi, who suffered heart attack during the blanket distribution event in Badaun.
However, the police said that the woman died due to heart attack and not because of the stampede.
Another woman is also said to be injured and admitted to a local hospital.
The incident happened when blankets were being distributed as part of Mualayam's birthday celebrations on Saturday, during which the stampede broke out.

The extravagant birthday celebrations had already drew flak among the political opponents and the stampede incident added more fuel to the fire.
Mulayam, who was wished among others by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Governor Ram Naik, attended a grand ceremony on Jauhar University premises and laid the foundation of a medical college on the occasion.
