UP polls 2017: BJP joins hands with Buddhist monks to woo Dalit voters
Lucknow, Apr 26: In an attempt to woo Dalit voters in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections early next year, BJP has roped in Buddhist monks who will travel across the state.
According to a report in TOI, BJP in an aim to propogate prime minister Narendra Modi's views on Buddhism and Bhimrao Ambedkar, have joined hands with Buddhist monks who will travel extensively for the next few months.
The campaign is titled 'Dhamma Chakra Yatra' and is being supervised by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The campaign will end in Lucknow on October 14. The yatra will cover around 70 districts of the state.
According to the report, the campaign is aimed at Dalit voters and to make inroads into the state that is traditionally dominated by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
The campaign was recently flagged off by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
