Kolkata: Man tries to commit suicide; daughter dials 100 & alerts police
Kolkata, April 13: A 10-year-old child's timely awareness saved her father's life, who was about to commit suicide in Kolkata.
The girl dialled 100 to seek immediate help from police to prevent her father from taking the extreme step.
The incident was reported from the first floor of Sinthee apartment at around 8:15 am, where the duty-bound cops reached and found a man lying in burns in the kitchen and his wife Shikha and daughter Rashi were crying helplessly.
Because of Rashi's swift action of calling police, her father Rajeev Khanna, a 37-year-old businessman could got immediate medical help, who got 40% burn injuries.
According to neighbours, the couple was engaged in a heated argument, when Khanna poured kerosene on himself and his wife started crying.
Then, little Rashi, a student of Calcutta Public School, who had read the advertisement telling people to dial 100 in case of emergency swung into action.
Her mother told police that Rashi was in a state of shock as she saw her father trying to end his life.
