Sterilisation of street dogs, not a solution: Kerala Chief Whip
Cochin, Sep 25: When controversies related to dog culling is becoming worse day by day.The Kerala Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan took a stand in stray dog culling issue.
In an attempt to solve the stray dog issue, said that he would try his best to convince Chief Minister Oomen Chandy for implementing a government order that allows culling of violent stray dogs by local bodies.
Thomas will also be meeting Union Minister and animal lover Maneka Gandhi to inform her about the intensity of problems caused by stray dogs to women and children.
The Chief Whip also said it was legal to cull violent street dogs. It is the responsibility local body authorities to perform the same.
The Law secretary has given it in writing that there's no legal hurdle in culling violent stray dogs.
Thomas added that sterilisation alone would not solve the issue and he will persuade the government to solve the issue on the earliest.
