Jammu: Four drug peddlers arrested, 450 grams of heroin seized

Jammu, Jul 1: Four alleged drug peddlers were arrested in three separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir and more than 450 grams of heroin and 250 intoxicant capsules were seized from them, police said on Sunday.

A resident of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, Pardeep Singh, was riding a two-wheeler when he was intercepted by a police party near Digiana Pulli in the Gandhi Nagar locality today, a police official said. He added that 450 grams of heroin, worth Rs 45 lakhs in the international market, and Rs 20,000 cash were recovered from the possession of the “notorious supplier”.

Singh has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said. Last year, Singh was arrested from Srinagar's Bemina locality in connection with a drugs case but was later released, the police official added.

In another incident, two alleged drug peddlers, identified as Neeraj and Lucky Choudhary, were arrested during vehicle checking in Indira Nagar area of the Jammu region today, the police official said.

Three grams of heroin worth rupees three lakh was recovered from the duo's possession, he said, adding that a case had been registered against the two men. The fourth alleged drug peddler was arrested last evening from Gangyal area on the outskirts of Jammu with 250 intoxicant capsules, the police official said.
