Police raid rave party at heritage hotel, 80 people arrested
Udaipur, Apr 7: In a raid at a rave party, police arrested 80 people, including 16 women who were allegedly involved in prostitution, in a heritage hotel on the Udaipur- Ahmedabad highway early this morning, police said.
On a tip-off, sixteen women and 64 men, many of whom were businessmen, were arrested in the rave party which also served liquor.
Many of the accused were found indulging in illicit activities when the raid was conducted at one Udai Palace Hotel and Resort by a police team of Goverdhan Vilas Thana, Deputy SP Ranu Sharma said.
The women had been hired from Bhopal, Delhi, Neemach, Mumbai, Agra, and Ahmedabad through touts running sex-rackets, and each woman paid between Rs 4,000 to Rs 15000.
The arrested men reportedly have big businesses of marble and cloth and hail from Ahmedabad, Surat, Kishangarh, and Dungarpur, police said.
The hotel owner Pankaj Bansal managed to escape but his wife Nilima Bansal was arrested, Sharma said, adding, a huge amount of cash (yet to be counted) was recovered from her.
A case under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA), and other sections of IPC was lodged against them, Sharma added.
