Jaipur-Chennai Express derailed, major accident averted
Jaipur, Sept 3: The engine of Jaipur-Chennai Express was derailed at the Jaipur junction on Thursday. A major accident was averted since the speed of the train was slow.
Bayana passenger train which was coming just after the Jaipur-Chennai train, was stopped mid-way which was running at it's schedule time.
According to information the Jaipur-Chennai express was had arrived at platform number 4 of the Jaipur junction at 6 am but soon after it derailed. No casualties or injuries were reported as all carriages were safe.
The main reason behind the mishap was a crack in the railway track. However, the railway in-charge denied that there was any cracks in the tracks. Due to this five wheels of the engine were derailed.
After getting information, the Railway officer in-charge reached at the accident site and the derailed engine was replaced with a new one.
Bayana passenger train on the other hand, reached the station half an hour late from its scheduled time.
The frequency of railway accidents in India has always remained a cause of concern in a country where estimated 23 million people use the service every day.
