Zakir Naik thanks Malaysia PM for not deporting him

Kuala Lumpur, July 11: Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik thanked Prime Minister of Malaysia for allowing him to stay in Malaysia.

In a statement released, Naik said, " I thank Malaysian govt for examining the issue from an unbiased perspective, and PM for his decision to allow me to stay here, as long as I continue to abide by the law and support peace and harmony of Malaysia."

"This decision reaffirms my faith in Malaysia's justice and communal harmony and is a testimony to the success of multiracial diversity of this country. Finally, while I hope that justice and peace return to my homeland, India," Zakir Naik asserted.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday said his government would not give in easily to India's demand to deport the controversial Muslim preacher Zakir Naik for alleged terror activities and money laundering, according to a media report.

Three days after meeting Naik, wanted in India for alleged terror activities and money laundering, the Malaysian prime minister said his government would always ensure it looked into all factors before responding to any demand, the New Straits Times reported.
