Beijing, Mar 13: A Chinese woman was left horrified after she found around 40 dead cockroaches in her takeaway meal.

A resident of Shantou City in Southern China had ordered a duck dish for dinner through an online food delivery platform. She was planning an evening of eating with her friends when the meal was sent to her door.

However, the table of diners were left shocked when one of them said they found a dead cockroach inside the food.

The video footage of the entire incident was filmed by one of her friends went viral which shows they used chopsticks to pick out the cockroaches.

The video shows that they found more than 40 cockroaches, with the dead bugs filling up two pieces of tissue paper they had laid on the table.

The woman revealed that she complained to the restaurant and then reported the case to the police, who are now investigating together with officials at the local Food and Drug Administration.

Later, the restaurant issued an apology to the woman. They have also been shut for business for the next 15 days as the investigations are being carried out. It is still not clear if the ordered dish was freshly prepared or was just reheated and given out for delivery.
