Who is Fridtjof Nansen, today’s Google Doodle

Google today celebrates the 156th birth anniversary of Fridtjof Nansen with a doodle, who was born in Oslo on October 10,1861.

Ever since his school days, Fridtjof Nansen excelled in science and drawing, and upon entering university, he decided to do his majors in zoology. He learned to cross-country ski as many as 50 miles in one day with minimal supplies, and occasionally just his dog.

In 1888, Fridtjof Nansen became the first man to lead an expedition across the snow-capped interior of Greenland.

In 1922, Fridtjof Nansen was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in "helping those without a voice and searching for a home". He died on May 13, 1930. He was also regarded as the first High Commissioner for Refugees.

Some of his famous quotes:
I demolish my bridges behind me...then there is no choice but to move forward
It is better to go skiing and think of God, than go to church and think of sport.
The difficult is what takes a little time; the impossible is what takes a little longer.
