Unidentified persons fire, hurl grenade at PML (N) leader Aqeel Rehmani in Karachi, 3 injured
Unidentified persons first shot at and then hurled a greande at Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Aqeel Rehmani in Karachi, Pakistan, on Wednesday. Rehmani was injured in the attack and transferred to a civil hospital, said reports.
Three other have also sustained injuries in the attack which took in the middle of a busy road in Karachi's Ghareeb Shah Mazar area.
Rehmani's bodyguards are said to have fired back at the attackers, leaving to suspects injured. One of the attackers was caught by the crowd and handed over to police. He has been identified as one Usman.
After firing six shots at Rehmani, the attackers hurled a grenade which left people close to the leader inujured.
Later, the leaders of PML-N and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) condemned the attack on Rehmani. PML(N) spokesperson Asad Usmani said that the miscreants were increasing their hold in the city while accusing the Sindh government of failing at maintaining peace, reported ANI.
