The Republican leaders on Friday held a discussion at the White House to repeal and replace parts of Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare. The issue discussed was mainly focussed on regarding whether the bill should include insurance companies covering maternity care for everyone.

US President Donald Trump

Vice President Mike Pence, who was at the meeting along with President Donald Trump and Republican members, tweeted a picture, which showed that the meeting didn't represent a single woman.

However, the purpose of the meeting was to propose to the president what changes the all-male committee would like to see made in the bill. Among the issues tabled at the meeting was a proposal to limit maternity coverage in plans across the US.

This photo, however, drew criticism from groups such as Planned Parenthood.

Freedom Caucus members have opposed the legislation pushed by GOP leaders, saying it doesn't go far enough to repeal Obamacare, which President Trump is pushing for votes for, and there was no deal on the health care legislation.

Former President Barack Obama's Obamacare, included 10 health essential health benefits that all insurance plans had to cover, including pregnancy, newborn and maternity care.

Trump has called for a so-called 'make-or-break' vote on repealing the legislation, saying he will leave Obamacare in place if the vote fails in order to move onto other issues.

Trump was previously criticised for signing an executive order on funding for abortion and women's reproductive rights soon after becoming president.
