US President Donald Trump on Thursday, June 7, expressed his willingness to invite North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un to the US if their upcoming meeting in Singapore went off well.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who made yet another visit to the US inside two months, Trump said White House could be the first stop if Kim came to the US.

After discussing the June 12 summit which overcame a number of hurdles with Abe, Trump said it was possible that an agreement to end the Korean War which is technically still one could be reached but he called it "the easy part" of the negotiations. He also reminded that what happened after it was really important.

Trump, nevertheless, aired optimism over the summit saying a "great success" was being awaited.

Trump also praised Kim's personal letter delivered to him through North Korean envoy Kim Yong Chol on June 2.

The US president said that he would like to see the bilateral ties between the two nations normalise once the mutual trust was established.

In May, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US would help in the economic development of North Korea if it gave up its nuclear weapons.
