Trump takes a dig at President Obama over his absence in flood-hit Louisiana
Washington, Aug 20: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Friday (Aug 19) took a dig at US President Barack Obama over the latter's absence in the flood-affected state of Louisiana, saying the latter didn't want to miss any of the golf games in his ongoing summer vacation in Massachusetts, according to a report from ABC News.
Before meeting volunteers at a church in north of Baton Rouge, Trump said: "The president says he doesn't want to go, he is trying to get out of a golf game." The news report said.
Trump, a real-estate tycoon, arrived in Louisiana on Friday (Aug 19) morning along with his running mate Mike Pence. The two were met at the airport by Lousiana's Representatives Steve Scalise and Garret Graves and also the state's Attorney General Jeff Landry and Lt Governor Billy Nungesser.
On Thursday (Aug 18) night, Trump expressed sympathy for the victims of the flood at a rally in North Carolina. Thirteen people have been killed in the floods.
Meanwhile, sources in the White House said the president is being briefed about the situation regularly and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson visited the affected areas on Thursday, a Politico report said.
