Trump has no remorse for using the term “animals”; says will use it again
US President Donald Trump who recently called a section of migrants entering the US unlawfully "animals" during a talk with Republican senator from California, was unapologetic about his using the word and said he would continue to use it to define the MS-13 gang - a violent Salvadoran-American gang which the Trump administration has found to be a suitable punching bag to show its concern for America's national security.
Trump was criticised by the Democrats for using the word but the president was unfazed.
Replying to a question from the media during a meeting with Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday, May 17, Trump said his remark made on Wednesday, May 16, was aimed at the MS-13 gang members.
"MS-13, these are animals coming onto our country," Trump was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. He also said that he will continue to use the same term for the MS-13 and other gang members that enter the US in the future as well, AP added.
Trump, in a voice that was critical of California's immigration policies, said during his meeting with the California officials that his administration was stopping people who were trying to enter the US and referred to some of the migrants as "animals".
Trump has used the term "animals" to describe Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in the past after his regime allegedly used chemical weapons against his own people in April. He also used it to describe terrorists and shooters in educational institutions.
The White House stood by Trumps, saying the term was yet not strong enough to define the MS-13.
