Top U.S diplomats, 2 envoys expelled from Venezuela
Kelly Keiderling, the charge d'affaires and a top diplomat (the name of the latter two were not specified) have been named and asked to leave the country in the next 48 hours.
Ever since the late President Hugo Chavez refused to accept a newly named U.S ambassador in 2010, Venezuela and the United States have been without ambassadors.
However, when the President announced the names of the diplomats, the latter had not been informed officially, according to Gregory Adams, the acting deputy chief of mission.
"I have asked Foreign Minister Elias Jaua to proceed with their immediate expulsion from the country," Maduro said, adding further,"they have 48 hours to leave the country."
Maduro said in Spanish,"Out of Venezuela," and then added: "Yankees go home," in English.
"I don't care what actions the government of Barack Obama takes," he said. "We're not going to permit an imperialist government to come and bring money and see how basic companies can be halted and see how to take away electricity and shut down all of Venezuela."
Both Maduro and Chavez have a past history of making unjustified accusations against the United States and his political opponents. Last week, the President had cancelled a trip to the New York to address the U.N General Assembly due to an unspecified U.S. plot.
