This African teacher deserves an award for teaching Microsoft Word without a computer
Ghanaian teacher, Owura Kwadwo, teaches Microsoft Word without computers to his students.
He is on a mission to spread computer education among the poor children belonging to the farming community of Ghana. Thus nothing deters Owura Kwadwo, even lack of a single computer in his classroom, from teaching every minute detail about computers to his students. Strange isn't it? But this teacher makes impossible possible because of his sheer passion to make children of his country computer literate, in spite of lack of basic infrastructure and equipment.
In his Information and communication technology (ICT) class, the African man explains Microsoft Word to his pupils on a blackboard. He sketched out everything about Microsoft Word on a blackboard for students to understand it well.
After he posted his teaching methodologies on Facebook, Kwadwo has won a lot of admirers and donors, who are ready to provide laptops and computers to his classroom. Check out Kwadwo's Facebook post to understand the kind of effort he put into to teach his pupils about Microsoft Word:
According to a Khaleej Times report, Kwadwo told Bored Panda that he was positive about teaching in a rural farming community that lacks basic resources. "Every teacher has a way of presenting his subject to his students. This is my way," he said.
Pulse Ghana in a report highlights that most schools in the African country lack basic infrastructure to teach ICT to students. Things are getting better now in schools, adds the Pulse Ghana report.
"The government is helpful and I believe in them, they are trying to make ICT better for the teachers and students. We need well-equipped infrastructures and teaching and learning aids, and a government who has education at its heart," Kwadwo said.
Here are some tweets lauding Kwadwo's effort and dedication:
