Austin shootings: 1 woman killed, 4 injured
Austin, July 31: An active shooter on Sunday, July 31 caused multiple victims in Texas, Austin police said. A woman in her 30s was reportedly killed and at least four were injured in the shooting incident.
Two females and a male were taken to the University Medical Centre Brackenridge with gunshot wounds where the victim succumbed to her injuries, CNN reported.
Local media reports claimed that there were separate shootings within the same area. Both scenes are secure at this time. It is not yet clear that how many people have been shot.
One of the shootings happened outside Friends bar on East 6th Stree, Sky News reported.
The Austin Police Department posted on its verified Facebook and Twitter pages that there was an active shooting incident downtown just before 3 am.
"Stay away from downtown", Austin Police Department tweeted.
One of the witness, Dorian Santiago was quoted saying as, "We are not used to having this type of crime around."
"Chief Manley will be providing interviews at 4:30am in the 600blk of Brazos street regarding the shooting tonight", the media was informed.
Videos from the local media showed panic-striken people running helter-skelter out of the buildings after hearing loud gunfire.
There is no immediate information on the fate of the gunman, whether he has been apprehended by the police or he has been shot dead.

According to the Associated Press, "Police chief says suspect sought in Austin shooting, could be one of the people hospitalized."
Austin has a population of more than 900,000. Police across the country, and especially in Texas, remain on edge weeks after a black extremist shot dead five officers protecting a peaceful march against police brutality in Dallas.
