US: Telangana student shot dead at restaurant in Kansas city
Washington, July 8: A 26-year-old student hailing from Telangana was shot dead in a restaurant in the Kansas City of the USA on Friday.
The youth was identified as Sharath Koppu, was shot by unidentified persons at J's Fish and Chicken Market on Prospect Avenue on Friday evening, Capt Lionel Colon of the local police department told The Kansas City Star.
The shooting took place around 7 p.m. local time, in which he was wounded and shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Kansas City Police are treating the incident as a case of robbery and murder. They have released a video with the images of a suspect.
Lionel Colón with the Kansas city police said it was unclear how the shooters left the scene.
The Indian Consulate General of India in Chicago confirmed the incident in a tweet. It wrote on Twitter: "An Indian student became victim of shooting in Kansas City, Missouri. We r in contact with his family & police.
We will provide all assistance. Our officers are also on the way to Kansas City. @SushmaSwaraj @IndianDiplomacy @NavtejSarna @India in USA"
