Taslima Nasreen among hit list of Ansarullah Bangla


Dhaka, Nov 4: Noted Bangladeshi writer and human rights activist Taslima Nasreen has been figured in the list of top targets prepared by banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team, media reported.

The list of targets was posted by the outfit on its Facebook page named "Ansarullah Bangla Team," on Sunday.

Taslima, living in exile since she left Bangladesh in a cloak of secrecy in 1994 in the wake of threats to her by fundamentalist groups, has been getting Indian visa on a continuous basis since 2004.

Taslima, a citizen of Sweden also stayed in the US and Europe in the last two decades.
Some of the targets are now staying abroad after being forced to seek asylum, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The Ansarullah Bangla Team (ATB), AN al Qaeda inspired Islamic extremist group in Bangladesh, has been blamed for a series of murders of secular writers in the country.

The Bangladesh government on May 25 this year banned the ABT under country's anti-terrorism laws. Mufti Jashimuddin Rahmani, the leader of ABT, was arrested in 2013.

The group started its activities during 2007 as the Jama'atul Muslemin, funded by different NGOs.
