Taliban writes open letter addressed to Americans against Donald Trump
The Taliban on Thursday wrote an 3,000-word letter addressing American people to press their government to withdraw from Afghanistan, reminding them that the Afghan war is the longest conflict in which they have been embroiled, and at a cost of "trillions of dollars." The letter also urged the Amricans to put pressure on Trump to change war policy against Afghanistan.
The letter was a 10 page document released by Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid in several languages, detailing insurgent gains.
The letter was released at time when the United States has stepped up airstrikes in support of anti-insurgent ground and air operations by Afghan forces under President Donald Trump's new war strategy to break the military stalemate with the Taliban and push insurgents to the negotiating table.
The letter assailed US President Donald Trump's strategy announced last August that called for military force to bring a more compliant Taliban to the negotiation table.
